Undetected failure of these simple Hot Oil Pumps would curtail the process with serious safety implications.  Vibration trending identified the warning signs of a failing coupling and repairs were scheduled via the normal procedures. Before the vibration program, a similar pump’s high vibration cracked the mechanical seal, overflowed the oil pan and flooded the floor. The process stopped and a major cleanup followed.
